Greater Remington Improvement Association

Greater Remington Improvement Association: Baltimore, MD 2008 – 2011

In 2008, the Greater Remington Improvement Association (GRIA) was formed. I was one of many community residents that felt the need to develop an organized group of residents to primarily focus on neighborhood improvement projects. I served as one of the founding members on the board of directors and also held the role of the Community Programs Chair. In this role, I created, implemented, and assisted in the development of community programs. Many of programs were run by community members themselves and others were formed through partnerships with local non-profit organizations. My role was to connect interested resident volunteer instructors and teachers with a community venue and participants. Programs that I assisted with included, youth photography workshops, science camp, the community garden, community walks and clean up days.

Through my position on the GRIA board, I gained experience in grant writing, community organizing, and engagement.
