Tree stories – Allegheny and Garrett Counties, MD 2011
Tree stories is a collection of audio stories that were recorded in Allegheny and Garrett counties over a summer and fall in Western Maryland. These stories were collected to be a part of the artist Pamela Paulsrud’s ongoing international collaboration “Treewhispers”. This project explores human’s connections to trees through art, papermaking, performance, storytelling, and site specific installations.
The stories reflect diverse experiences with trees including living in an old growth Hemlock, making maple syrup, and being comforted and healed in a time of need. The individuals who shared as well as the place and origin of all these tree tales are inspiring.
